The Red Rider

There is no clear evidence indicating the provenance of the bronze used for Lenin statue. However, it is beleived that the equestrian statue of the Romanian king Carol I, destroyed in 1948, was melted down to create a monument to Lenin.

My work is based on a hypothesis circulating during the 90's: to re-build the equestrian statue of King Carol I from melting down the bronze of the existing Lenin.

This work is part of Matter&History research project, started in 2007.
